Amsterdam is a powerpop/alternative rock group based out of Seattle, Washington. The group was formed in 2007 when singer/songwriter Megan Moreau met up with childhood friends Andy Emery and Adin Pennington at college. The trio began performing her songs, and eventually collaborating on new material as the year went on. Between the classical training and jazz styling of Moreau, and the garage band feel of Andy and Adin, Amsterdam's collective and distinct sound began to form with a mix of influences ranging from the Foo Fighters, Paramore, New Found Glory and Reliant K.
After playing locally for a time, the band decided to record their first album. They enlisted the services of engineer Sam Hofstedt (Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden) at Studio X and producer Steve Fisk (Nirvana, Soundgarden, Sleater-Kinney) respectively. During this process the band looked to add a permanent guitarist. Following a few setbacks, Chris Allen, another childhood friend of Andy and Adin, became the 4th member of Amsterdam. The band began gaining momentum playing locally while the album was being mixed and found themselves opening for nationally touring acts such as Marcy Playground, The Action Design and Killola. With the completion of their debut disc "Like You Don't Care" the band added guitarist Ray Stewart to round out the group. "Like You Don't Care" is scheduled to be released in May with an album release show May 14 at Studio 7 in Seattle.
