Artist Christine Reimer was born & raised on Vancouver Island and earned a degree in Visual Arts from UVIC in 1977. She was fortunate to have excellent teachers & mentors including
Pat Martin Bates, Carol Sabiston, Bill West,
James Gordaneer and her great-uncle, Max Maynard. Her professional painting career has spanned 4 decades. Christine’s work has evolved extensively during this time from a Fauvist landscape genre to creating larger, vibrant works that are best described as Abstract Expressionist. Her solo exhibit, The Colour of Dreams… Painting Metaphors, opens April 19th in the Main Gallery, Art Centre at Cedar Hill and runs until May 9th. It will feature about 25 new paintings created over the last two and a half years, during the pandemic.
“My art has become more reflective and I have found that my paintings are often metaphors for life experiences. Nature continues to dominate my creative vocabulary, utilizing a language of mark making and colour to provide the atmosphere. Music brings an ebb and flow to my creative process and punctuates the form.”
Included in this show are selected paintings from these series: Dreamscapes, Elements of Nature and Cloud & Waterscapes. View more of her paintings at http://christinereimer.ca
