Event Description

Within what appears to be a simple and classical construct — two fiddles, a viola, and a cello - The Fretless have created a sound that is distinctly rich, multi-layered, and uniquely percussive. This tonal quality is pushing traditional music to new heights, producing a completely fresh approach to Folk music.

The Fretless' experimentation with the tonal and percussive qualities of the blend of their string instruments garnered them a JUNO award and a second nomination.

The Fretless are Trent Freeman (Fiddle/Viola), Karrnnel Sawitsky (Fiddle/Viola), Ben Plotnick (Fiddle/Viola), and Eric Wright (Cello).

Their newest album, “Open House” released last October, features a guest singer collaboration, handpicked by the quartet. The vocalists are Taylor Ashton, Ruth Moody, Dan Mangan, Celeigh Cardinal, Freddy & Fancine, Rachael Sermanni, Nuela Charles, The Bros. Landreth, Lady vPhyl and Red Tail Ring.
