About

DJ Girl 6

DJ Name: Girl 6

Format: Hip-Hop, Top 40, R & B, Mashups, some break beats. If its funky I got it!

Special Skills: Excellent programming, having the best mashups in town, 2x4s, taggin, battlin, scratchin, beat juggling, excellent use of samples and custom beats created on Reason/Acid.

Where it all began: I was a drummer for about 8 years. Drumming is pretty uninspiring when you have nobody to consistently jam with. DJing is a great release of my creative energy and rhythm without worrying about whos not showing up to practice today!

Background: I was born in Seattle Wa, not tellin when thanks! I was raised by a Sicilian mother and a Northern Italian father. Ive only moved twice, once to Mississippi and once for school in Salzburg Austria. I try to incorporate my own interpretation of the Seattle sound to portions of the music I spin. Dont get me wrong, its all about da Hip-Hop. That doesnt mean I cant toss in samples from Nirvana, Hendrix or Heart where it suits my mood!

My father was a musician, my grandfather was a news anchor and actor, and my grandmother was a supermodel. If thats not enough to live up to, my aunt married Max Factor!!! Its not like having these connections ever hurt!

My greatest inspiration was and always will be Prince. I mean the old Prince, the guy who preached about freaky equality where race and sexuality were non-issues. Ive always been a fan of self-expression and acceptance in every embodiment. *Note to self, meeting your idol is not always what its cracked up to be.*

I was also influenced by pioneers like Grandmaster Flash, Jam Master Jay, Q-Bert, Princess Superstar, LA Kendall and Seattles own Sir Mix-a-Lot. There arent a lot of female DJs in my area. There are even less that spin Hip-Hop or Battle. Much props to Cuttin Candy but shes wayyy in the minority and so am I. Thats ok, I dont mind the challenge See ya in da club!

Prior Exp: NoiseLab (Residency), Aristocrats (Seattle), Lotus (Vancouver BC), Medusa (Seattle), SunVillage (Dominican Republic), and some fashion shows (Bebe).

Goals: Win more battles, produce more records, travel and generally take over the world!

Sign: Capricorn, You cant tell??!
