I want to make music that is not restricted to any particular genre. Some days I want to play like Pennywise and other days like Ben Harper. I love the sound of deep sorrowful blues. I love the sound of spanish finger picking. I want to make music that is passionate, heartfelt, and genuine. Music with reason and purpose. Favourite groups: Weezer, Pennywise, Feist, Weakerthans, Tool, Korn, Constantines, Sepultura, Sonny Terry and Brownie Mgee, Pinback
Favourite Vocalists: Sinead O'connor, Ani Difranco, Ben Gibbard, Nina Simone, Chris Cornell, Eddie Vedder, Marilyn Manson, Justin Timberlake (*snicker snicker*)
(As you may see, my interests contradict each other as far as genre classifying is concerned, but note that all these bands have one thing in common, insurmountable bouts of passion!)
Confession: I have much more passion and desperation to play music than I have skill or experience. Like Jimmy, I've mostly played alone, and the only lessons ive had were from stoned hippies on the beach. Ive been writing whiney, downer poetry for years that I use as lyrics to even more depressing sounding e minor chords. On that note, with the right people, I think I'm ready to kick it up a notch.
