Montreal based jazz quartet: SHPIK:
Wed. June 19th @ Hermann's Jazz Club (All Ages)
7:30pm - 10:30pm doors at 6:00
Consisting of pianist and composer Arnaud Spick-Saucier, bassist Etienne Dextraze, drummer Philippe Lussier-Baillargeon and saxophonist Alex Dodier, SHPIK offers a bold and impressionistic music, drawing its inspiration from jazz and film. After the launch of their first album, “Fabulation”, the band won the TD Grand Jazz Award of the 2018 Montreal International Jazz Festival. Critics described it as an "Impressionist music that will please both newcomers to contemporary jazz but also avid, seasoned listeners" (Ariane Cipriani | ICI Musique | Radio-Canada) and a "universe with changing rhythms, an airy soundscape, with impressionist and melancholic atmospheres reminiscent of E.S.T, where noises and effects are like the emissaries of the unknown, seemingly representing the spirits of the forest." (Benjamin Goron | Camuz).
