A jazz band that specializes in the music of dixieland, ragtime, and the early swing era has played a leading role in the music scene not only locally but across North America with a brief foray into Mexico as well.  Created by Toni Blodgett in 1991 she was looking for musicians that could also sing the complicated vocal harmonies of a New Orleans trio, the Boswell Sisters and other groups like The Mills Bros. Their name “CanUS” comes from the band members being from both sides of the border (Joey Smith being from Tennessee, so he was the ‘U.S.’ part of the band.)

Although playing traditional jazz festivals kept them on the road from Wisconsin to California and points north including Canada, of course  which carried them far and wide,  it was a concert on the Millennium stage of the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. that stands out as the highlight of those years.

As the late Tom Rippey (from Seattle's P.S.T.J.S.) stated: "..a new version, maybe, but still a hot band with a swinging rhythm section and a great front line! Wonderful vocals and the most diversified book of music in the business. I'd hire them anytime for anything!"
