While the video poem is not a new thing, the growth of technology and social networking has led to an exciting increase of video poems being released into the world. Join us as East Van Poetry Salon's Chris Gilpin hosts a curated showcase and panel discussion on the art of the video poem, the experiences behind them, and the importance of this form in the age of the viral video.

Four teams compete in a four-round poetry competition judged by the audience. Poetry slam is a competition in which poets present original work without the use of props, costumes, or musical accompaniment, within a time limit of three minutes.

Gord Downey might not care what the poets are doing, but that won't stop them from doing it! Mashed Poetics is an on-going music and poetry series that began in May 2009. This is its 22nd installment, and will see eleven poets write and perform new works inspired by The Tragically Hip's "Up to Here," while Vancouver band The Trickle Down plays the album in its entirety. Come rock out to this classic Canadian album and hear what the poets do with their prompt.
