Event Archive - Rafael Zaldivar Trio

Celebrated for his extravagant talents as both improviser and composer, Cuban-born pianist Rafael Zaldivar is a musical marvel. After being classically trained in Havana, Zaldivar’s exciting musical synthesis incorporates classical and jazz concepts that are influenced by the harmonies and rhythmic complexities of Cuban music. A Montreal resident since 2005, Zaldivar draws from Art Tatum and McCoy Tyner as much as Chucho Valdés and Gonzalo Rubalcaba.
