DATSIK’s future-tech dance-floor detonators exploded on the dubstep scene almost immediately, racking up a series of seven #1 tracks on Beatport, including at one time owning five of the ten tunes on their best-sellers chart. He’s also had smash hits on other music sites like Juno, Red Eye and Chemical Records and early remix credits include works for the biggest names in the game like Diplo, The Crystal Method and Bassnectar.

Now he’s produced a dozen new tracks for his debut full-length album, VITAMIN D on Dim Mak Records, featuring collaborations with Infected Mushroom, DJ Z-Trip and Jonathan Davis of KORN. “I’ve been a KORN fan since back in the day,” DATSIK explains about Jonathan Davis who reached out to him directly to collaborate on KORN’s 2011 genre-defying album The Path of Totality. “He was so complementary about our music and how much he loved it. So when he said he wanted to work with us, we couldn’t say yes fast enough.”

DATSIK cut his live teeth in 2011 as one of the featured artists on IDentity, North America’s first-ever all-electronic music tour, as well as support for KORN on their ‘Path of Totality’ tour. On the eve of the extensive DEADMEAT tour with Dim Mak label owner/DJ rock star DJ Steve Aoki, and with scheduled sets at festivals like Ultra Music Festival and Coachella, DATSIK’s already-legendary live shows will be hitting more than 40 North American cities just over the next few months.

Whether he's opening for international superstars like Tipper, Bassnectar and the Freestylers; rocking a headlining slot at an outdoor party or providing backdrop beats in a local lounge, Generic is the kind of DJ who fully brings it, whatever the gig. His combination of technical skills (the guy has taken several Vancouver Island DJ competition titles), impeccable ear for crowd-rocking tunes and a fun-loving attitude makes Generic (nee Cole Magnusson) one of the Island's most sough-after disc jockeys. Expect one of his sets to be chock-a-block with broken beats, glitch hop, drum and bass and dubstep—including some of his own tracks, edits and remixes—with plenty of cutting and scratching thrown in for good measure. With skills like that, it's no surprise this 10-year vet behind the decks rarely goes a weekend without dropping a set.

Despite being a relative newcomer to Victoria, Outsider has quickly made himself a fixture in the local electronic music scene. The drum-and-bass DJ also known as Jon Camilleri is a versatile beat connoisseur with an uncanny ability to read a crowd, whether they’re downtempo diners at a lounge or frenzied festival-goers. Relocating to the Island in 2009 after growing up and cutting his DJ teeth in Toronto, Outsider has shared the stage with world-class acts like Andy C, Aphrodite, High Contrast, Rusko, 12th Planet, Distance and Benny Page, to cherry-pick a few names from his impressive gig resume. He’s rocked pretty much every major electronic music festival on Vancouver Island (including closing for Dieselboy, Dirty Phonics and TC in the 2009 and 2010 editions of the legendary Soundwave Music Festival), and regularly headlines his own gigs, both on the road and in Victoria. He can also be found behind the decks as a resident for both Whitebird and sub|division, Victoria’s foremost pusher of bass culture. In the club, he is a surgeon in the mix, clipping along flawlessly from track to storming track, able to blend ol’ skool amen-laden flavours with modern envelope pushers. Don’t let the name fool you: with his eclectic taste in tunes and nearly a decade of experience as a DJ, Outsider is definitely in on a lot of musical secrets.
