Sonic Chakras is the brainchild of global guitarist and vocalist Colin Godbout. He earned rave reviews last summer for his cross country tour of TransCanada ’69, a one hour musical journey to a magical time featuring songs of Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, Lenny Breau, and others (for details visit colingodbout.com). With Sonic Chakras Colin takes audiences on an inner journey through the landscape of the human soul. Seven energy centers are evoked by an Indian raga, a flamenco solea, a Brazilian samba, a Beatles medley, a Pat Metheny melody, a Hindu chant, and a William Blake lyric.

Joining Colin on Sonic Chakras are percussionist Niel Golden and flautist Vinod Bhardwaj. Niel has been a fixture on the local music scene since 1986 and has an impressive list of recording and performing credentials including Juno and Western Canadian Music award nominations. He will be playing tabla, cajon, and a new instrument called the hang (see nielgolden.com for details).
Vinod recently moved to Victoria from Edmonton , where he was inducted into the Arts and Culture Hall of Fame in 2008. He will be playing the bansuri (Indian flute), harmonium, and singing. Vinod has recorded his own CD’s and published his poetry in India (for details see vinodbhardwaj.com).
