Background info:

"Sandy's songs hold nothing from an audience. Their lyrics display a masterful command of the language combined with honest, simple expression. More impressive than her song writing skills, her voice is an instrument of pure beauty that rivals any contemporary female performer."

In 1996 Sandy was the solo vocalist in both the seventeen-piece Island Big Band and jazz sextet Elastic Band.

In 1998 she co-founded the folk-rock band SONNENBLUME, a highly successful local act that built a large following, released a self-titled album and was part of the compilation album, ROCKTORIA 11. The band won the local rock station’s “Best Band of the Year” in 1999 and the second track of their debut album, "Tell It Like It Is," (written by Jon Moore and Sandy Powlik) became a radio hit. Sandy's song "When Comes The Change" also aired on the prime-time television program "Higher Ground".

In 2000 Sandy lived and played nightly at a rafting resort in Nepal amid the stunning backdrop of the Himalaya, performed at the Nepal River Conservation and Buddha Jayanti Festivals and recorded on "Borderlands Vol.1," a live fundraiser CD. It was during this time that she wrote the songs that would later become the self-titled CD of her next project, LOLA PARKS.

2002-2006: The first incarnation of LOLA was a folk-funk fusion, quickly embraced by audiences and various festivals. LOLA PARKS performed for thousands of people to critical acclaim. The band’s debut album showcased Sandy’s incredible voice, lyricism and ability to pick out the perfect harmony for her main vocal line.

After much travel, volunteering and working abroad and in Montreal, in 2011 LOLA released a 5-song EP, "Here", with an all-star cast of friends and fantastic musicians: Chris Van Sickle, Oliver Swain, Adam Dobres, Roy Vizer, Adrian Dolan and Dave Zellinsky, produced by Hayden Cyr.
