About

Rozalind MacPhail

Instruments: Flute, Vocals details
Canadian indie-rock flutist Rozalind MacPhail (MUS.BAC.PERF. Toronto) has grown up in the rigorous musical milieu of classical training, but has grown into a stunningly freestyle improvisational artist. This rare combination has led Rozalind from the demanding practise rooms at University of Toronto during her Bachelor of Music in Performance, to spontaneous performances with the likes of revered Toronto performer Danny Michel, Toronto rockers The Constantines, Toronto alternative-folk band Great Lake Swimmers and the celebrated American trio, Yo La Tengo. Rozalind recently completed a successful audition for Cirque du Soleil and has been put on their list of potential candidates. She has been showcased on CBC Radio’s “Classical Encounters” and regularly appears as a musical guest on Ottawa television’s “Breakfast at the New RO.” Rozalind has recorded, produced and released two full-length CDs: “Good Kissing School” (2003) with Ottawa folk-rock band Lighthousekeepers and more recently, “Rozalind and Friends – Live at Café Nostalgica.” (2004) Visit: www.rozalindmacphail.com
